The divine Mother
Who is the Divine Mother?
The Divine Mother is something I kept hearing about long before I really understood what it meant. Not in a religious way, and not as some floating symbol of femininity. More like a feeling that kept showing up when I needed support I could not explain.
Different cultures have different names for her. In Hinduism, she is Shakti. That is the word for creative power, the energy behind life itself. Sometimes she is called Kali, Durga, Lakshmi, or Saraswati. Each one reflects a different way she works in the world: protection, truth, beauty, wisdom, or destruction that leads to healing.
In Christian mysticism, she appears as Sophia, the embodiment of divine wisdom. She bridges the spiritual and material worlds and calls us toward deeper understanding.
In earth-based traditions, she is Mother Earth, the living body of the planet that gives life and takes it back. This connection to the Earth has been neglected for too long, but now it is rising again. We are at a threshold, a moment of change where the energy of the Divine Mother is becoming visible once more.
The Divine Mother does not belong to any one story or belief.
For me, she shows up in ordinary moments when I finally rest after being too strong for too long. When I let myself cry. When I stop explaining myself and just listen. When I remember I do not have to do everything alone.
If you are drawn to her, it is probably not because someone told you to be. It is because something in you already knows what it feels like to want to be held.
And maybe you are ready to let her.
I highly recommend the book Divine Mother Healing by Connie Huebner. It’s been a meaningful guide for me. You can find it online or at your local bookstore.
If you’d like to connect more deeply with the Divine Mother, I have many more book recommendation that really helped me understand her energy. I’m also putting together an Amazon wishlist with books, crystals, and other tools I use or recommend.
